WWU Alumni Business Spotlight

Every month, the Alumni Association spotlights a Western graduate, former student or current student who has created or runs a business. The business may be small or large, but it is meant to showcase the talent existing in the alumni community and provide opportunity for alumni to network and learn more about each other.

This month's alumni business spotlight focuses on:

Doug MacLean, President and CEO of Talking Rain Beverage Company

Since 1989, Western Alumnus Doug MacLean, President and CEO of Talking Rain Beverage Company, has been focused on providing health-conscious consumers with low calorie, enhanced, carbonated and non-carbonated flavored spring water beverages (“Bottle At The Source”).  Talking Rain is the regional market leader for these “good for you” beverages which are distributed throughout the Western United States, with some of the product lines available nationally. Talking Rain also bottles Viking Rain especially for Western, of which proceeds from the sales go to help fund WWU Athletic Scholarships. In addition to being a Western alumnus, Doug is a member of the Western Foundation board of directors and an active participant in the Western in Seattle Committee.
