Check out this video to watch the Western Insights: Data Analytics.

Brought to you by the College of Business and Economics in partnership with the WWU Alumni Association

It is not a stretch to say that we are all drowning in data. It is collected everywhere and parked in everything from data warehouses to thumb drives. At the same time, we are engaged in a discussion about what data should not be collected and by whom.

The reality is the collection of data is not new, but the volume and the speed of that collection has grown sharply along with the ability to use that data.

The field of data analytics helps make sense of data. It looks for patterns and trends and provides insights for organizations to make their own decisions. Organizations need to consider not only how data can improve operations or extend their client base, but also the ethics surrounding the use of data.

We invite you to join Western Insights in a discussion with:

  • Alison Kertzman, Accounting Manager for Engineered Wood Products and Distribution at Weyerhaeuser
  • Sachin Pai, Marketing Analytics and Strategy Leader
  • Nate Vogel, VP of Worldwide sales at Tableau (and Western alum!)

This session will be moderated by Dawna Drum, Associate Professor in the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University

Western Insights is an online panel series created in response to COVID-19 to provide the broader region, Western alumni, friends, and students with access to information on current events drawing from the University’s nationally respected experts.
