The Annual WWU Anthropology Scholars Week Conference provides undergraduate students in the department with the opportunity to present their research and hard work to their peers, faculty, and alumni. Students gather to share their anthropological interests and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Please join us for the Outstanding Research Presentations and Awards where award recipients are asked to give a 15-minute presentation of their paper. There are four students (three papers, including one co-authored paper) who won the Outstanding Student Research Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Faculty nominate several students out of 200+ Anthropology majors, review their papers and select winners.
Outstanding Student Research Awards include a monetary award of $250.00 and a certificate from the department which is presented during the Anthropology Department Scholars Week Conference.

Driven at first to find a solution to the question “what will you do after graduation?”, Elizabeth Gibbs pursued a Museology internship that took her down an unexpected career path, unlocking a passion for aviation. Cleared for Takeoff is a reflection on the flight path of one former WWU Anthropology student, and a story to inspire those who may be stuck on the ground to look up and find their wings.
