Description
Check out this video to watch the Building Climate Leadership.
The climate crisis is happening right now. We have solutions for this crisis, but there are not enough engaged and trained people to implement these solutions. Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) is committed to building climate leaders at every stage in life, and with programs like Climate Corps, our vision is a future where a diverse array of emerging professionals are empowered to address the urgent challenges of the climate crisis while meeting the workforce demands of both public and private sectors.
If you would like to be added to the Institute for Energy Studies newsletter, please sign up online.
Featuring:
Cyane Dandridge, Speaker
Founder and Executive Director of SEI and the School of Environmental Leadership
Cyane Dandrige is the founder and executive director of two national nonprofit organizations based in Marin County, CA: Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) and the School of Environmental Leadership (SEL). As a pioneer in the environmental sustainability field, Cyane has spent the last three decades dedicated to accelerating effective, equitable, and intersectional climate solutions. Since 1997, SEI has educated more than 200,000 students and trained over 1,000 Fellows and participants in climate solutions across the nation. And the SEL has provided leadership skills to almost 300 high schoolers. Cyane envisions a world where all communities thrive, and knows we need to unlock the potential within individuals and leverage the power of partnerships and communities to scale the response to the climate crisis.
Steve King, Speaker
Climate Corps Program Director
Steve King serves as Climate Corps program director, managing the growing team and programmatic engagements across the country while directing all phases of the furtherance of this program including program design, strategic partnerships, budgeting and fundraising, implementation, reporting, external presentations, and amplification of outcomes. Steve brings to SEI a lifelong career of and a passion for social justice and liberation. His journey in fostering sustainability leaders started during his time as a Program Coordinator and Researcher at the Global Labor Institute at Cornell University’s School of Industrial Labor Relations. Observing the lack of people of color in discussions on green jobs, Steve established New Jersey’s inaugural high school focused on sustainability and spearheaded Union County's first workforce development program targeting green jobs for youth ages 16-21. He led the RAY Diversity Fellowship Program, supporting emerging leaders of color in climate change, conservation, and clean energy.
